| My Tripple Tango Ref: 1267 I was 6 years old and whilst out walking in the country areas behinde the home where I lived. My brother and I found a four-leafed clover, I passed a pond on the way out to our walk which was also the way home. Whenever we were out we would find an old jar and fill it with water from a small pathway that the water went beneath, as we wanted to see the tiddlers, and pond life.
This time we found a jar and as I leant over to fill it, with my four leaf clover at the bottom of it, so I could take to Mum and show her what we had, but I over leant,I fell into the pond. The water that was going under the walk way went into the local papermill, there was a grate underneath to stop the debris, I was grabbing on to the edge of the walkway and I could feel my legs getting pulled down into the area where the grate was.
The water made me fel as if it was the wind beneath my legs, becase they were not straight in the water but bent by the force of the water gushing below me. I was coughing and spluttering because as I slipped. I took in a big gulp of water and I sprung back up and quickly grabbed the edge of the walkway--or did I?
Was I helped back up instead of being pulled into the grate below?
MY HANDS STARTED TO SLIP AS I COULDNT HOLD ON ANY LONGER TO THE PATHWAY, I THOUGHT THAT I WAS GOING TO END UP UNDERNEATH THE WALKWAY STUCK AGAINST THE GRATE.
I would have drowned for sure. but my 11 year brother came back to find why I had been so long getting up the hill, and as he pulled me out of the pond, he was laughing, but as I am older now, I can see he was laughing because he was in shock. I was glad he came back.
Was I saved by my brothers sixth sense, or the angels this time... so that I never leant over that pond ever again, was it an important lesson to teach me while I was so small, how dangerous this was, or was it the four leafed clover that (although was unlucky that I fell) used all of its majical powers to stop me from drowning.
That is my tripple tango story. From Carron x
